Trail of Thought

FORTY-FOUR WORDS presents Trail of Thought, a self-led guide to selected works within The Courtauld’s permanent collection. Each work is accompanied by four questions that position art as a tool for reflection and self-discovery. Trail of Thought launched at The Courtauld Gallery on October 16th 2024 at 6 pm.

  • A trail is an interactive activity. Trail of Thought invites you to reflect on art (and yourself) as you walk through the Gallery, using selected works to explore themes like belonging, desire, and self-discovery. Simply pick up a booklet at The Courtauld Gallery or access it online.

  • There’s no set time—it’s designed to be flexible. You can take as much or as little time as you need to engage with the selected works, depending on how long you want to reflect and in what way you chose to respond.

  • Yes, Trail of Thought is accessible to anyone with an interest in art and self-reflection, regardless of prior knowledge. It’s about personal exploration, so there’s no right or wrong way to experience it.
